The Harsh Reality of Islam: Immoral Teachings and Their Impact on Society

Islam is often presented as a religion of peace, but a closer look at its teachings reveals a troubling reality. The Qur’an and Hadith, the core texts of Islam, promote ideas that are harmful to society and deeply immoral. One of the most disturbing aspects is how these texts treat stealing, property rights, and the treatment of non-Muslims. This article will expose these teachings, using clear examples and verses, to show how damaging they can be.

Stealing: A Double Standard

In Islam, stealing from fellow Muslims is a serious crime. The punishment is brutal, cutting off the thief’s hand. This comes straight from the Qur’an and the actions of Muhammad, the founder of Islam. For example:

  • Qur’an (5:38) says, “As to the thief, male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in power.”
  • In the Hadith, Bukhari (81:780) records Muhammad saying, “The hand should be cut off for stealing something that is worth a quarter of a Dinar or more.”
  • Another story in Bukhari (81:792) tells of a woman whose hand was cut off by Muhammad for theft. She later repented, but the punishment stood.
  • Abu Dawud (38:4373) mentions a man losing his hand for stealing a shield.

This harsh rule applies only to Muslims stealing from each other. But when it comes to non-Muslims, the story changes completely. Islam allows, and even encourages, taking property from unbelievers, sometimes including their wives and children, as long as it’s done under the banner of war or conquest.

Robbing Non-Muslims: Blessed by Allah

The Qur’an and Hadith openly say that stealing from non-Muslims is not only okay but a reward from Allah. Muslims who fight unbelievers are promised their land, wealth, and possessions. Here are some examples:

  • Qur’an (8:69) states, “So enjoy what you took as booty; the spoils are lawful and good.”
  • Qur’an (48:20) promises, “Allah promised you many acquisitions which you will take, then He hastened on this one for you and held back the hands of men from you, and that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you on a right path.” This makes it clear: taking from unbelievers isn’t theft—it’s a gift from Allah.
  • Qur’an (33:27) says, “And He caused you to inherit their land and their houses and their wealth, and land ye have not trodden. Allah is ever Able to do all things.” Again, this is about seizing the property of defeated non-Muslims.

The Hadith backs this up with real examples from Muhammad’s life:

  • Ibn Ishaq (327) notes, “Allah made booty lawful and good. He used it to incite the Muslims to unity of purpose. So enjoy what you have captured.”
  • In Ibn Ishaq (503), it’s said, “Allah saw what was in their hearts [what they coveted] so he rewarded them with victory and with as much spoil as they could take.” Later, in (508), Muslims attacked Meccan caravans, killed people, and took their goods.
  • Bukhari (44:668) tells of Muhammad’s followers capturing camels and sheep from non-Muslims because they were hungry, and Muhammad approved it, saying Allah would provide through such actions.
  • Ahmad 4869 quotes Muhammad: “He has provided sustenance from beneath the shadow of spears and has decreed humiliation and belittlement for those who oppose my order.” This means taking from non-Muslims by force is how Muhammad survived.

One shocking case is in Ibn Ishaq (764). Muhammad attacked the Jewish farming town of Khaybar, who weren’t even at war with him. He took their possessions, tortured their treasurer Kinana to find hidden treasure, then beheaded him. Afterward, he “married” Kinana’s widow, Safiyya, who was passed around among his men first. This shows how Islam justifies stealing and violence against non-Muslims.

Muhammad’s Raids: The Root of Terrorism

After being forced out of Mecca, Muhammad and his followers settled in Medina. To survive, he started raiding caravans traveling between Syria and Mecca. He took their goods and killed or captured anyone who fought back. This wasn’t just about survival, it set a pattern. The Hadith says Muhammad kept a fifth of all loot from conquered people for himself, building his wealth this way. His eleven widows got none of it after he died, even though they couldn’t remarry.

As author Wafa Sultan explains, Bedouin culture feared raiding but also depended on it. Islam took this brutal practice and made it holy. This laid the groundwork for Islamic terrorism, where violence and theft against non-Muslims are seen as righteous.

A Legacy of Exploitation

For centuries, Muslim empires lived off “Maal-e-Ghanimat” (war booty) and “jizya” (a tax forced on non-Muslims). Today, some radical Muslims in Western countries, like Anjem Choudary in Britain, live off public benefits, essentially taking from “infidels” legally. Why wouldn’t they? Their religion says it’s fine.

A modern preacher, Abu Ishak al Huweini, bragged about this in a sermon. He said jihad could make Muslims rich by capturing slaves, women, and children to sell. He called it a “profitable business” and a way to fix poverty, proof that Islam’s immoral ideas still thrive.

Even Anwar al-Awlaki, once called a “moderate” Muslim, taught that income from stealing from non-Muslims is “purer” than honest work. He said their property doesn’t really belong to them because they don’t believe in Islam. Taking it by force is just “returning” it to Muslims.

The Damage to Society

The Qur’an warns against picking and choosing its rules. Qur’an (2:85) threatens harsh punishment for those who believe some parts but not others. Qur’an (66:9) calls such people hypocrites, deserving punishment from “true believers.” So Muslims who reject hand-cutting or stealing from unbelievers are seen as fake Muslims, risking attack from their own.

Islam’s teachings create a divided world: Muslims versus everyone else. Property rights, fairness, and basic decency don’t apply to non-Muslims. This breeds conflict, justifies violence, and excuses theft as long as the victims don’t share your faith. It’s a system that thrives on greed and domination, not peace or justice. The evidence is clear in the Qur’an and Hadith, Islam’s own words show its ugly truth.
