While doing Naam Abhyaas, any thought apart from Naam is a distraction born of Maya and must be firmly cast out. When we have the weapon of Naam, we must stand strong and authoritative against such Maya-driven thoughts. The moment a Gursikh challenges these thoughts with determination, they disappear just as darkness vanishes when the sun rises.
Do not sit idle or let thoughts of infatuation, or any other distraction, disturb your precious time in Naam Abhyaas or Kirtan. Make a sincere effort to immerse yourself in Naam. When the Dhuni (sound) of Naam reverberates powerfully within, false and Maya-driven thoughts scatter, just like herds of deer flee when a lion roars in the jungle.
Do not fall into the traps of Maya. Naam is far more valuable than all the treasures of this world combined. Remember the supreme sacrifices of the Sahibzade, the 40 Mukte, Bhai Mani Singh, Baba Deep Singh, and Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh during his time in prison. Thoughts of worldly desires or infatuation will vanish sooner than you realize. Stay in the company of Gursikhs, read the writings of Gursikhs, and above all, do Ardaas for strength. With Guru Sahib’s grace, help will surely come.
