Before the self-sacrifice martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji on 11th November 1675, Guru Sahib's last wishes were to have a bath, wear fresh clothes, and read Sri Japji Sahib. This happened at Chandi Chowk, opposite the Red Fort, Delhi.

16 Hindu leaders from across India along with 500 Kashmiri Brahmins (priestly class Hindus) travelled to Sri Anandpur Sahib, led by Pandit Kirpa Ram, to seek the final help of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji as nothing else had worked. Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib was now their only Saviour and Help.
The 16 Hindu leaders accompanied by 500 Kashmiri Brahmins presenting a letter to Emperor Aurangzeb in Lahore after meeting Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji. Aurangzeb was coming back from Hasan Abdul (Panjab) and stopped off in Lahore. The Hindu delegation on the way back to Kashmir, therefore, stopped off at Lahore to pass the message that Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji was their Saviour and Leader and whatever he decides to do, they will follow.
