The concepts of Sachkhand and Dasam Duar hold profound significance in Gurmat. While both are interconnected in the spiritual journey of a seeker, they are distinct in their nature and function.
Sachkhand is the highest spiritual realm, described in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the abode of Waheguru and liberated souls (Mukat Gurmukhs). It is beyond the material world and remains inaccessible to those bound by the cycle of birth and death. Attaining Sachkhand is the ultimate goal of a Gurmukh, where one merges with the divine and transcends worldly existence. Typically, souls enter Sachkhand upon leaving the physical body after complete spiritual liberation.
Dasam Duar, or the tenth gate, is a mystical doorway within the human body that allows one to experience the divine bliss of Sachkhand while still in this world. Unlike the nine visible bodily openings, the Dasam Duar remains hidden and is only accessible through intense spiritual discipline, Naam Simran, and divine grace.
It is through the Dasam Duar that a seeker can perceive the divine vibrations of Anhad Shabad, the unstruck celestial melody. This gateway enables an individual to connect with Waheguru and experience the Anand (bliss) of Sachkhand without physically departing from this world.
While some may refer to Sachkhand and Dasam Duar interchangeably, they are not the same. The Dasam Duar serves as a remote access point to the Sachkhand, allowing a seeker to experience Sachkhand’s bliss but not physically reside there. Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji has extensively written about this concept in his book Anhad Shabad Dasam Duar, emphasizing that the Dasam Duar is the secret mystical gateway that connects physical existence to the divine realm.
However, it is understandable why some might consider them the same – when one enters the Dasam Duar, they are immersed in the divine presence as if they were in Sachkhand. This experience is so profound that it mirrors the ultimate realization of divine unity. Yet, true entry into Sachkhand, as per Gurmat, happens upon complete liberation from the body.
In summary, Sachkhand is the final spiritual destination where one attains union with Waheguru, whereas Dasam Duar is the gateway through which one can experience the Anand of Sachkhand while still in this human body. Understanding this distinction helps a seeker comprehend the depth of Gurmat’s spiritual wisdom and aspire toward the ultimate goal.
